She's 4 now!

A couple of days ago we were riding in the car and I asked Anna if she was ready to get back to school to see all her friends. She got going on an interesting monologue about how one little boy at school was probably not her boyfriend anymore because another one was nicer to her...etc etc etc. I could tell this was a serious matter (in 4-K), so to ease her mind, I told her she didn't need to worry about these kinds of things just yet because she was still a little girl. Well, Well!!! Apparently not the correct response. She replied, "Mom, I am not 2 anymore, I am 4 years old now, I'm a big girl."

Ice Cream Trip

Yesterday we all went to Up to Baskin Robbins to get ice cream. I ran in to get it while Patrick and the babies stayed in the car. I asked Anna what flavor she wanted, she said "Chocolate with chocolate sprinkles." I said, Jack what flavor do you want and he said.... "BIG." He is easy to please!

Our Weekend Getaway

Patrick and I had the opportunity to get away by ourselves this past weekend for our birthdays/anniversary. Anna and Jack stayed with mom and Alec stayed with Kenny and Nancy. We missed them way more than they missed us! Kenny and Nancy did a wonderful job with Alec, they even managed to get him to sleep through the night for the first time in 7 months. They haven't disclosed what they used or how they did it. Ha Ha! We had a wonderful time together and we really appreciate mom and Kenny and Nancy for keeping the kids and keeping them in one piece! Thank you! We went to Charleston and toured our old stomping grounds, it was very nostalgic. We always have a great time when we go down there. The weather was beautiful! Next vacation: June '07
Fuel for trip: $30 Hotel Room: $89 Starbucks doubleshot: $2 Sleeping in until 8am: priceless

ALEC

Update on Alec: He is a such a sweet baby with a wonderful temperament! We are very lucky for that. He is now 7 months old. He is sitting up by himself, babbling, laughing and smiling all the time. He loves to chew on Jack's face and pull Anna's hair. They are really very good with him. Anna is definitely my great helper and Jack loves to tell everyone, "dat's my bruver" He is starting to show the first signs of enamel!! His first tooth, how exciting for us!

The fish with one eye

I know lots of you have heard this story but it makes me smile every time I think of it so I have to tell it again. I took the children to the zoo awhile ago and we were standing in front of the giant aquarium. A very large tropical fish swam by and we noticed that it was missing an eyeball. As fish do, it kept swimming back and forth, back and forth, and finally Anna said in a very concerned voice, "Mama, I think he is looking for his eye."

P is for popcorn

Anna has a line in the Christmas program at school, as do her classmates. We are supposed to be practicing at home. On the way home from school I told Anna her line started with "P is for Prophets" and she said, I want to say "P is for popcorn, I don't know what prophets are"
Let's hope I can convince her to say prophets on stage!

Bob the Builder

Jack has discovered taking on a new identity. He is Bob the Builder. I always thought it was a cute TV show but I never thought Bob would be living with us. Now when Jack is sitting at the kitchen table we hear him say "Bob needs more milk, Bob not like this, etc ." Bob is also starting to go potty. Bob is too cute!

Anna-versary

Today in the car Patrick called Melting Pot to make reservations for us. Anna asks from the rear seat.. "Why are you going to the Melting Pot? I want to go." Patrick said, "You can't go it is to celebrate our 8th wedding anniversary. Anna said, "I'm luckier than Alec and Jack because my name is in "Annaversary", there is no such thing as a "Jackaversary" or "Alecaversary"

professional pictures

Today was the day......we had postponed it as long as we could. Jack was well overdue for his 2 year old picture as was Alec who was a month overdue for his 6 month picture. We had professional pictures taken at Portrait Innovations. We went ahead and made it as chaotic as possible and had Christmas pictures at the same time. The pictures were beautiful as always but the car ride home was definately another story!! I'll try and post the pictures tommorow, they really did a great job!

Body Hair

Anna continues to be the most quick witted child I have ever encountered. The other day she asked me why she had hair on her legs. I told her God gave us body hair to keep us warm??????
She paused for a minute and got the look she gets before she says something profound and replied, "Then Daddy is a lot warmer than me!"

Jack to the Rescue

I have to tell you about the funniest thing that happened today. It certainly wasn't too funny when it happened but 12 hours later I'm laughing. Jack was sitting in his booster seat pushed up to the table eating a snack and watching Mickey Mouse on TV. I went out the kitchen door to feed the cat and lo and behold the wind blew the door shut! Yes, I was locked out. Jack and Alec had free reign of the house. I could see Jack at the table through a crack in the miniblind and I am knocking and calling his name repeatedly. He looks over his shoulder at me periodically to say "what mama?" But he is not the least bit interested in what I need. Donald and Mickey are slightly more entertaining than me with no makeup on standing outside with no shoes in 40 degree weather. I keep knocking and calling him asking him to please climb out of his booster (which is completely not allowed under normal circumstances) and open the door for me. As I am knocking, he is looking at the TV saying "Mama, somebody here" I'm thinking to myself, "just break the glass get it over with because the door is staying locked."
Miraculously Mickey Mouse ended and slowly and strategically Jack managed to climb out of his booster and come let me in the house. I have never been more proud of him. What a smart little guy!!! We're getting a spare made tomorrow.
